18-year-old Edward Crocker dies after speeding driver crashes car in south Phoenix

April 21, 2021

PHOENIX, AZ – A teen is dead after a driver lost control of his car and hit a pickup truck in south Phoenix on Tuesday afternoon. Police said a 19-year-old and two 18-year-olds were in a Nissan Altima heading west when the driver lost control and went into the eastbound lanes, hitting a Chevy 3/4 ton pickup truck around 12:30 p.m. on April 20th, 2021.

An 18-year-old passenger named Edward Crocker was thrown from the Altima and died at the scene, police said. The 19-year-old Altima driver and the 58-year-old driver of the truck were taken to the hospital with serious injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening. The other 18-year-old passenger also has serious injuries but should survive.

Investigators said neither driver was impaired, but that speeding appears to have led to the crash. Charges could be filed, depending on what happens in the rest of the investigation.

We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the injured victims and deceased.
