A sump pump sold under the brand names Star Water Systems, Do It and Utilitech could pose a fire hazard due to an overheating risk. The brands recalled about 33,000 units of the sump pumps after receiving six reports of the pumps overheating and smoking, with no reported injuries. The recalled sump pump is for residential de-watering. It applies to the following model numbers: #3CEH (Star Water Systems), #433063 (Do It) and #148009 (Utilitech).
Juratoys Children’s Bead Maze Toy
Juratoys recalled its Sophie la Giraffe Bead Maze toy on February 6 due to a potential choking hazard for children. It recalled almost 1,000 units after discovering the wooden triangle-shaped piece of the toy does not meet federal regulations for small parts and presents a choking hazard to young children. The recommended remedy is to immediately take the toy away from children, destroy the triangle piece and contact Juratoys for a replacement piece.
Infantino Infant Carrier
Also on February 6, Infantino recalled its Go Forward 4-in-1 Evolved Ergonomic Carrier for infants due to a fall hazard. The company stated the buckles on the infant carrier could crack and break, posing a fall hazard for infants. It recommends customers contact the company for a free replacement. No injuries have been reported.
Country Home Products Leaf Blower
A projectile injury risk led to Country Home Products Inc. recalling about 100 units of its DR Premier 1200 Walk-Behind Leaf Blower. The leaf blower’s interior blades can potentially break off and shoot from the unit, posing a projectile hazard to bystanders or the user. The company received eight reports of this incident occurring, with no known injuries. Customers should contact the company for a full refund.
Fanim Industries Ceiling Fan
Fanim Industries recalled about 70,000 units of its Harbor Breeze Santa Ana ceiling fan (48 inch) after learning about a defect that could cause the blade holder to break, leading to the blade getting ejected from the fan. The company received 210 reports of this incident occurring, with 10 reports of ejected fan blades striking consumers. The remedy is to contact the company for replacement blade holders.
Yamaha and Textron Golf Carts
Two golf carts from two different companies, Yamaha and Textron, have ongoing recalls for potential injury risks. Yamaha recalled four different models due to a defect in which the golf cart’s front wheel hubs can crack, causing the wheels to detach while in use. Textron recalled over 20,500 golf carts and other utility vehicles due to an unsecured starter generator wire that could pose a fire hazard.
Kolcraft Inclined Sleeper Accessory
A potential risk of child suffocation led the company Kolcraft to recall the accessory of its Cuddle ‘n Care 2-in-1 Bassinet & Incline Sleeper. The manufacturer recalled about 51,000 units after other companies’ inclined sleeper products led to infant fatalities. Customers can return the inclined sleeper accessory for a $20 refund or $35 in Kolcraft credit.
Home Depot and Safavieh Chests of Drawers
Two companies, Home Depot and Safavieh, recalled chest of drawers products for the same two hazards: tip-over and entrapment. Home Depot recalled about 200 units of the Home Decorators Collection Print Block 4-Drawer Whitewash Chest while Safavieh recalled 760 units of its Aura and Silas 3-Drawer Chests. Both companies recalled the chests due to stability issues if not secured to the wall, posing chest tip-over and child entrapment risks.
