Motorcycle, ATV, bicycle, and pedestrian accidents are different from passenger vehicle crashes in that they do not involve a protective metal shell that shields victims from impacts. Alternative vehicle crashes don’t necessarily happen more often than other types of accidents, but the fatality rate is higher.
