BUCKEYE, AZ – State Route 85 has reopened in Buckeye after a crash left a motorcyclist dead, according to the Department of Public Safety. DPS says the accident involved a motorcycle and semi-truck on the north lanes near Southern Avenue. The motorcycle rider died at the scene. Officials didn’t say if the semi-truck driver was hurt.
We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the victim of this crash.
Motorcycle, ATV, bicycle, and pedestrian accidents are different from passenger vehicle crashes in that they do not involve a protective metal shell that shields victims from impacts. Alternative vehicle crashes don’t necessarily happen more often than other types of accidents, but the fatality rate is higher.
