Motorcyclist Ethan Voorhees from Mesa was killed on Loop 202

MESA, AZ – Ethan Voorhees died after a motorcycle crash on the freeway in Mesa, Arizona on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

It happened on the southbound side of the Loop 202 Santan Freeway near Elliot Road sometime before 6 p.m.  The Department of Public Safety says 18-year-old Ethan Voorhees was speeding with a group of motorcycles when he ended up rear-ending a Nissan sedan.  He was thrown from the bike and hit the cable barrier.  Voorhees was rushed to the hospital where he later died.  The driver of the sedan was not injured, according to DPS.

Aerial video from the scene showed a motorcycle basically broken in half with pieces all over the pavement.  An investigation is underway.
